With sadness, we inform our clients and friends that Wright, Constable & Skeen has lost a dear, loyal, and talented colleague. Michael J. Abromaitis, who practiced with this firm and its predecessors for more than half a century, passed away on July 11, 2023. Affectionately known as “Abro,” Mike advised many of the firm’s most significant clients, and often the individuals or families owning them, in tax, business, and estate planning matters. He masterfully wove his love and knowledge of history, fine arts, and sports, but also his gracious humility and contagious sense of humor, into his relationships with clients and colleagues and his mentoring of younger lawyers. He taught us that versatility as a human being enriches the practice of law.
Mike was a champion of the Jesuit foundation, which his education at Loyola Blakefield and Loyola University provided him, and the example he set through his lifelong devotion to those schools is an enduring legacy. His favorite sports were lacrosse and hunting. He cherished the Loyola lacrosse programs and for years served as a commentator for the University’s team. His “game” of choice included ducks, geese, boar, bears, and, according to him, even alligators. Mike was also proud, but understated, about his service as a U.S. Army Ranger.
Mike’s greatest love, however, was his family. He glowed when talking about his siblings, nieces, and nephews. But eclipsing them all was and is his wife, Sue, who remains his brightest and guiding light.
Mike, our friend and colleague, we will miss sharing the practice of law with you, including your talent, your humor, your tall hunting tales, your stories of lacrosse and life events—the whole package. Rest peacefully and with a smile for a life well lived.
