James W. Constable, a partner at Wright, Constable & Skeen, LLP, has been appointed to chair the Board of Trustees of the Maryland Environmental Trust. 

Among the 20 largest land trusts in the US, the Maryland Environmental Trust works with landowners, local land trusts and government programs to permanently protect Maryland’s most cherished landscapes and natural resources as a legacy for future generations.  It is one of the oldest and most successful land trusts in the country, holding 1,070 conservation easements and preserving over 130,000 acres statewide.

Mr. Constable has been a distinguished member of the legal community for more than 40 years.  His practice spans business and corporate law, real estate, commercial litigation and transactions, and arbitration.

He has been heavily involved in local charity and community-based organizations throughout his career.  He is currently on the boards of the Maryland Historical Society, Maryland Environmental Trust, The Manor Conservancy (serving as president), and Notre Dame of Maryland University.  He is also former chair of the Baltimore County Landmarks Preservation Commission and former trustee of Preservation Maryland and various other civic associations.
