Born in Baltimore and a lifelong resident of Baltimore City and County, J. Neil Lanzi has dedicated his practice to servicing the needs of the local community. For over three decades, he has served his clients in the areas of real estate (commercial and residential) development, land use and zoning, general business, transactions, estate planning, probate and personal injury.
Neil played lacrosse at Calvert Hall High School and at Loyola University. While in college, Neil was the player captain of an intramural soccer dynasty after leading his team to four straight championships. Neil is one of the proud founding members of the non-profit GB Charities, Inc., (locally known as the “Gutter Boys”) presently helping over 90 students in the Baltimore-metropolitan area with their parochial school tuition. Neil currently serves as the President of GB Charities.
Mr. Lanzi’s clients engage in a variety of industries, including funeral homes, engineering firms, surveyors, developers, banks, contractors, service garages, restaurants, management companies, physicians, insurance agencies, barbers, dentists, software companies, staffing companies, non-profit companies and franchisees. In addition to advising on business transactions, real estate and zoning issues. Mr. Lanzi advises on development projects from inception through completion, whether a large mixed-use development encompassing several acres or single residential property. Representative clients include Vaughn Greene Funeral Services, F.M. Harvey Construction Co., Inc., Value City Furniture, Shell Oil Company, Sam’s Club, The Orient, PF Changs, Famous Dave’s, Jimmy John’s and Jiffy Lube franchisees.
Mr. Lanzi has been actively involved in professional associations since the start of his legal career. He has been a member of the Maryland State Bar Association and the Baltimore County Bar Association since 1986, where he is active in the State, Local Laws and Zoning Committee. He is also a member of the Maryland State Bar Association Entertainment and Sports Law Section.
Prior to joining Wright, Constable & Skeen in 2016, Mr. Lanzi was a solo practitioner with J. Neil Lanzi, P.A. in Towson, which he ran from 1993 through 2015.
After attending Loyola University, Maryland. Mr. Lanzi obtained his JD degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1985. While attending law school, Mr. Lanzi clerked with the law firm of White, Mindel, Clarke & Foard. Following graduation, Mr. Lanzi served a judicial clerkship with The Honorable Albert P. Close of the Circuit Court for Harford County. Upon the completion of the clerkship, Mr. Lanzi accepted as associate attorney position with the Towson law firm of Seiland & Jednorski, P.A., a general practice law firm where he handled a variety of legal matters.
In June of 1992, Mr. Lanzi became a partner in the law firm known as Coover & Lanzi, with offices in Towson and Ellicott City. The law practice prospered; however, after finding that the vast majority preferred the Towson office, Mr. Lanzi established his own practice in Towson on October, 15, 1993 where for the next twenty-three years, he assisted many clients with diverse legal needs. In January 2016, Mr. Lanzi merged his practice with Wright, Constable and Skeen and is based in the firms’s new Towson office across from the Courthouse.
Active in the community, when not with his grandchildren, bicycling or playing golf, Mr. Lanzi has served as either an advisor or on the boards of charitable organizations, including GB Charities, Inc. a 501 (c) (3) organization dedicated to helping children deemed “at risk” obtain scholarships to parochial schools in the Baltimore metropolitan area (founder and current President), STARS, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting children with special needs and Progressive Horizons, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping individuals with disabilities. A proud alumnus, Mr. Lanzi regularly supports Calvert Hall High School’s alumni activities. Mr. Lanzi has been a long time member of the Country Club of Maryland where he has served on various committees.
