Emily Sofia concentrates her practice on many aspects of family law, including, but not limited to separation and divorce, custody (including third party custody disputes), child support, alimony, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, as well as protective orders and peace orders. She represents clients in domestic cases, with particular expertise in interstate matters under the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act and international family law issues. Emily has also been appointed by the court in family law cases to serve as both a Child Privilege Attorney and a Best Interest Attorney.
She has extensive experience handling high-conflict custody cases, including both initial filings and modifications, with litigation experience across Baltimore, Cecil, and Harford Counties.
Beyond litigation, Emily is a trained mediator, having completed Maryland’s 40-hour mediation training and a 20-hour Divorce Mediation course focused on property and financial issues.

Emily is an active member of the Maryland State Bar Association where she serves as the Young Lawyers Representative on the Family Law Section Council, the Baltimore County Bar Association, the Harford County Bar Association, and Harford County Women’s Bar Association where she serves as Member at Large on the Executive Board.
