$425K Slander Verdict Affirmed Against Union President
Posted from The Maryland Daily Record:
In May 2012, Paul F. Evelius and Jason R. Potter represented a union local treasurer, William T. Lovelace, against the slanderous statements of his local union president, David McClure. The jury decided that McClure had acted with reckless disregard for the truth, and awarded Lovelace $335,000 in compensatory damages and $90,000 in punitive damages.
The decision was recently appealed and upheld in a Maryland Court of Appeals. The Maryland Daily Record covered the story. The full story can be found here: Slander Verdict Affirmed.
