Welcome to Surety Today: The Blog

WELCOME to the launch of Surety Today: The Blog, brought to you by your friends and counsel at the Surety and Fidelity Law Group at Wright, Constable & Skeen, LLP.  You know us through Surety Today: The Podcast, our decades of representing surety companies, and as innovators and leaders in the surety industry. Today we inaugurate a new platform to keep busy surety claims professionals informed and up-to-date on surety industry issues and law.

A “blog” is a “website that contains online personal reflections, comments, and often hyperlinks, videos, and photographs provided by the writer with a regular feature appearing as part of an online publication that typically relates to a particular topic and consists of articles and personal commentary by one or more authors.”  The word blog has been attributed to Jorn Barger, of the influential early blog known as Robot Wisdom.  The term was created to reflect the process of “logging the web” as he browsed.  “Weblog” was shortened to “blog” in 1999 by programmer Peter Merholz.  Surety Today: The Blog is our newest labor of love for the surety industry – now in the blogosphere (it’s a word, look it up).

We understand that some folks don’t want to call in or listen to podcasts, so we are creating this blog so that you can stay informed the old-fashioned way – in writing (digitally).  We will be posting an article each week so that you can check in when you want and review what you want.  Our articles will cover a wide variety of surety industry issues, such as case law notes, discussions of legal issues (like pay when paid clauses, bankruptcy, collateral demands, trust funds, etc.), and other developments in the world of surety.  Our posts will be a good resource to turn to on issues a surety claims professional will be likely to encounter.  Our blog page will have a list of upcoming surety events for an easy check of what is going on in the industry, prior articles and other information.
