Jerry Sunderland has developed a national reputation as one of the leading surety and construction attorneys in the industry over the course of a career that spans more than 40 years.
Mr. Sunderland shares an understanding of the issues faced by his clients’ in-house counsel because of more than a decade’s worth of experience as both in-house counsel for and as an Assistant Attorney General in Maryland. Mr. Sunderland served as principal counsel to a large Maryland State Agency which received no state funding. This experience coupled with his private practice experience gave him a unique perspective on his clients’ problems.
Mr. Sunderland has been recognized by a variety of professional groups and publications for his work. He holds an AV Peer Review from Martindale-Hubbell, was listed in The Best Lawyers in America for Insurance Law, and was named to Maryland’s list of Super Lawyers for Construction Law. He takes pride in the amount of large developments that he was able to contribute to throughout his legal career. Many of which, like the Fort McHenry tunnel, Marylanders still drive past today.
He spends the majority of his spare time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
